Location
Sassnitz is the second largest city on the island of Rügen and is located in the northeast of the island of Rügen, next to the National Park Jasmund (Unseco World Heritage). The direct proximity to the extensive beech forests, the enchanting chalk coast and the blue Baltic Sea attracts many nature-loving visitors to the harbor city year after year. In the fishing and sailing port with its 1450 m long outer mole, you can book excursions with one of the many passenger ships and drive to the Königstuhl. Especially on sunny days, this is a great experience for the whole family. Sassnitz has several supermarkets and shops, which are also open on weekends during the summer months. Various tourist destinations, such as the Königstuhl or the Natural Heritage Centre in Prora, can be easily reached by car or bicycle. Great beaches can be found either in Prora or in Glowe.
